Re: Rebel Opponent Wanted for Overland Battle!!
The Union General was fully engrossed in the handling of the massive piles of paperwork that were required to satisfy his many responsibilities and duties. His hat was hung on the back of the chair adjacent to him, while his familiar cigar was resting in a nearby ashtray. As was his habit, a bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey and a glass were near at hand as well.
The normal noises of the tavern never disturbed his concentration as he was well accustomed to them from the many years of his patronage here. What did catch his attention was the sudden silence. He vaguely remembered hearing a Union officer issue a challenge for battle followed by some scuffling sounds which settled into the silence of the tomb.
Removing his reading glasses, he looked up from his work to see a young Union officer standing at the bar with a perplexed look on his face. Scanning the tavern, it was immediately obvious that it was, in fact, now devoid of any Confederate officers.
"Don't look so shocked, Lieutenant", said the General. "The same thing happens nearly every time a Union officer issues a challenge to our gray clad brethren for a battle. The mere thought of having to stand the field against one of our brave men sends the Rebel lads into a veritable panic. Although you cannot see them at the moment, I assure you that they are still here. Look under the tables and behind the bar and you will discover them in their hiding places. You might also want to check the broom closet as that seems to be a favorite spot as well. Despite their loud bravado to the contrary, courage is not always their forte."

Haha, I love it.
Union Greenhorn still looking for a Reb to fight. Anyone care to prove the General wrong?
